Pediatrics: a new institutional entity is born

From 2009 to 2021, HCC provided consulting services to family pediatricians in Lombardy, first through FIMP Lombardia and later through SIMPEF, an independent national union. The main objective of this activity was to strengthen the new organization's representation, visibility, and reputation. To this end, intensive institutional relations and public affairs activities were implemented on a national scale to expand the union's network of relations.

Italy has a unique model in the field of pediatrics. Only a few other European countries come close to it, albeit with their own characteristics. This model is family pediatrics, also known as "pediatri di libera scelta (freely chosen pediatrics, Pls), in which a doctor specializes in caring for children from birth to 14 years of age (or 16 in specific cases) through the National Health System. A pediatric specialist offers personalized care, establishes a relationship of trust with the family, and plays a fundamental role in the prevention and promotion of children's health.

HCC and family pediatrics

From 2009 to 2021, we provided consulting services to family pediatricians in Lombardy. First, we worked for FIMP Lombardia, a branch of the Italian Federation of Pediatricians and the national trade union. Since 2011, we have worked for the independent national trade union established under the name SIMPEF (Trade Union of Family Pediatricians). The objectives of the action were to consolidate the organization's representative role among technical, political, and scientific stakeholders, as well as to promote its visibility and reputation. These objectives were achieved by participating in every possible debate and by implementing a proactive communication plan that took advantage of every opportunity to involve the association or its Secretary General. Ongoing institutional relations and public affairs activities were also implemented, especially at the national level, to expand the union's network of relations.
