Endocrinology: not just diabetes and obesity

Close relationships with the national and international scientific community

Endocrinology: not just diabetes and obesity
HCC boasts thirty years of experience in endocrinology. It began with the launch of Humalog in Italy and has grown through collaboration with leading national and international diabetes organizations. We began our commitment to obesity in 1999 at the 9th European Congress on Obesity. In the field of thyroid diseases, we have collaborated with Ibsa Farmaceutici for a long time and established important partnerships with leading scientific associations. This culminated in our organization of "World Thyroid Week" in 2016.

Endocrinology is the medical specialty that studies the endocrine system and its hormones. Until a few years ago, the main diseases that endocrinologists dealt with were diabetes and hypothyroidism, due to their high prevalence. They also treated hyperthyroidism, adrenal diseases, growth disorders, and other conditions, including cancer. With the advent of obesity treatment drugs and the full recognition of obesity as a disease, a new and important area of practice has emerged.

Endocrinology, significant know-how in diabetes, obesity, and hypothyroidism

We have been active in the field of diabetology for nearly 30 years. Starting in 1997, we supported Lilly in its communication efforts for the launch of Humalog, the first fast-acting human insulin analog, in Italy. Since then, we have collaborated with leading organizations in the national and international diabetes communities. We debuted in the field of obesity in 1999 when we began working with the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO) and the Italian Society for Obesity (SIO) at the 9th European Congress on Obesity in Milan, Italy. At that time, obesity was not universally recognized as a disease. Turning to thyroid diseases, from 2011 to 2016, we assisted Ibsa Farmaceutici in launching and positioning the liquid formulation of levothyroxine in the Italian market. During those same years, we began collaborating with the Association of Endocrinologists (Ame) in managing corporate communications. Since 2016, we have organized awareness-raising activities for "World Thyroid Week" together with scientific societies in the area coordinated by the Italian Thyroid Association (Ait) and in collaboration with the Committee of Endocrine Patient Associations (Cape).
