Cardiovascular diseases: from molecules to medical technologies

HCC's experience in cardiology, cardiac surgery, and interventional cardiology

Cardiovascular diseases: from molecules to medical technologies
Over time, we have built solid partnerships with leading companies in the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors in cardiology, cardiac surgery, and interventional cardiology, working on projects dedicated to both drugs and innovative technologies. Our major partners include Edwards Lifesciences, Medtronic, Novartis, and Pfizer.

Cardiovascular diseases are particularly important due to their prevalence and high mortality rate. Since the early 2000s, interventional cardiology has emerged alongside traditional cardiology and cardiac surgery, driven by research in medical technology, materials, and surgical procedures. Developed in the 1970s with the first percutaneous techniques for coronary examination, interventional cardiology has become a medical specialty in its own right in the 21st century.

Cardiology, cardiac surgery, and interventional cardiology: HCC's expertise with drugs and medical devices

From 2001 to 2003, we designed and managed the first primary cardiovascular prevention awareness campaign in Italian shopping malls: “Listen to your heart, use your brain,” which was promoted by Aventis (now Sanofi), in collaboration with ANMCO (National Association of Hospital Cardiologists) and its Heart Care Foundation (now Fondazione per il tuo cuore). From 2004 to 2006, we collaborated with ANMCO again to work on the Italian chapter of the international heart failure awareness campaign SHAPE. This campaign was based on the Study of Heart Failure Awareness and Perception in Europe and was promoted by The Sticares Cardiovascular Research Foundation. It received contributions from multiple sponsors. From 2010 to 2016, we worked on market access for the Tavi procedure (transcatheter aortic valve implantation) in collaboration with Gise (Italian Society of Interventional Cardiology) and Sicch (Italian Society of Cardiac Surgery). We also managed communications for Gise and its foundation for several years. Over the years, we have collaborated with leading companies in the sector, working on drugs, medical devices, and technologies. To name just a few: Aventis, Edwards Lifesciences, Medtronic, Novartis, and Pfizer.
